Florence Pugh just made Paris Fashion Week her own with another iconic naked dress.
Naked dresses – beloved by many a celeb – are currently dominating red carpets across the world. And the Don't Worry Darling actress is most definitely a fan. Florence previously caused a stir in the summer when she wore a pink Valentino dress in which her breasts and nipples were clearly visible under the transparent fabric.
Disappointingly, the internet had some ~thoughts~ about her gown, with some deciding to share body-shaming comments. Florence Pugh responded on Instagram:
"It's not the first time, and I guarantee it won't be the last, that a woman has to hear from a group of strangers that there's something wrong with her body. What's worrisome is how vulgar some of you men can be about it. Fortunately, I am at peace with my body. I'm happy with all my 'flaws' that I didn't even want to look at when I was 14.[...] Grow up. Respect people. Respect bodies. Respect women." Provided with the hashtag #f[*]ckingfreethenipple.
It's really absurd that a woman's body – in 2022, no less! – still triggers such a debate, where women are sexualised and judged by others, mainly cisgender men. Why? To shame and intimidate the wearer so that she stops showing her body?
Thankfully, Florence has refused to be intimidated. At Paris Fashion Week, the actress showed up in a naked dress that once again clearly showed off her breasts. The occasion: again an event by Valentino. More precisely, the aftershow party after the fashion show for spring/summer 2023 in Paris. Florence Pugh appeared in a sparkling transparent ensemble consisting of a cropped long-sleeved blouse and a floor-length skirt, as well as a beige slip.
The comments under her post are also largely positive, and yet there they are again: insults from mainly male users who take the liberty of criticizing Florence Pugh and her body as well as sexualising it and saying things like "Really great of you to fool your teenage fans into thinking it's ok to show your boobs in public!" or "Do her boobs seriously look like that?!".
In Queen Flo's own words: "Grow up. Respect people. Respect bodies. Respect women."
